      Experience the beauty and diversity of our multi-faith global community as you observe a variety of religious traditions practiced in New York City.

      As one of the largest cities in North America, New York City is home to a diverse population that represents many of the world’s religions. You will see firsthand how the city is bustling with different traditions and beliefs. By visiting a variety of religious establishments, you will learn from New Yorkers about the religious communities they belong to. In addition, visits to the United Nations and the 9/11 Memorial & Museum will challenge students to think critically about the way that religious affairs impact international policy and culture.

      Evenings will be full of unparalleled entertainment that no other city can offer, from dinner and jazz at the famed Cotton Club to a live performance at the legendary Apollo Theater. It wouldn’t be a complete trip to New York without a trip to the Empire State Building Observatory and a Broadway Show!

      • World Religions and Belief Traditions: Perspectives, Issues, and Challenges, Grade 11, University/College Preparation (HRE3M)
        Prerequisite Religious Education, Grade 10, Open (HRE2O) or English, Grade 10, Academic or Applied

      *Credit granted by Halton Catholic District School Board and transferrable to all Ontario schools.

    • Mandatory Program Dates

      June 8, 2019: Orientation & First Class
      • Parents and students are required to attend the morning program orientation.  Only students are required to attend the afternoon introductory class.
      July 2 to July 5, 2019: Pre-Trip Online Class
      • Students are required to complete and submit the pre-trip assignments.  Students will be granted access to the online course and the pre-trip assignments during the orientation. 
      July 6 to July 12, 2019: Travel Days
      • Students are required to complete assignments as they visit sites and participate in the activities during the travel days.  Students are also required to collect information for their summative assignment throughout the trip.
      July 15 to July 18, 2019: Post-Trip Online Classes
      • Students are required to complete and submit their summative assignment online. Teachers will be available to answer any questions during designated hours. 
    • Program Fees

      Program Cost: $1990 (Quad Occupancy: four students to a room; two students to a bed).

      Private bed supplemental add $500.00 (student receives their own private bed; this is NOT a private room).

      Deluxe medical and cancellation insurance (mandatory) add $145.00.

      Registration Deadline – May 30th 2019

      Please note: It is EduTravel and school board policy that all students travelling on extended trips have both cancellation and medical insurance in place. A specialized student insurance protection plan will be automatically added to the cost of the program fee upon registration. Please know there is an option to opt out of the insurance policy by completing and returning the “Insurance Opt-Out Form” along with proof of valid insurance coverage from another source.
