• NYC: The World of Fashion

      Join us this March and reach ahead in one of the fashion centers of the world – New York City! Live fashion as you utilize all NYC has to offer in this truly experiential and engaging educational program. Learn firsthand from some of the titans and up-and-coming fashion entrepreneurs, as you visit the famed Greenwich, SOHO, and Chelsea neighbourhoods. A trip to the Big Apple would not be complete without heading to a famous Broadway Show.

      The World of Fashion course is meant to be experienced in New York City.  Design sketches and plan out an eco-fashion garment inspired by a famous NYC neighbourhood – Chinatown, Little Italy, and Central Park to name a few. Mix and mingle with some of the city’s fashion designers as you network and interview these artists to gather the essential information needed for your Executive Summary Assessment. Culminate your experiential learning from the program and create a Social Media Portfolio – utilize YouTube, Pinterest, and Instagram for this engaging assignment.

      • The World of Fashion Grade 12 University/College Preparation (HNB4M)
        Prerequisite: Any university, college, or university/college preparation course in social sciences and humanities, English, or Canadian and world studies
      Note: For students planning on attending University or College in September of 2019, your HNB4M credit WILL be available for your April University or College application.

    • Mandatory Dates

      February 9, 2019: Online Access
      Students will receive an e-mail providing them with information on how to access the online learning platform and begin working on their pre-trip assignments. The pre-trip assignments are due during the first pre-trip class.

      February 23, 2019: Pre-Trip Face-to Face Class
      Students are required to attend the pre-trip class. They will submit the  pre-trip assignments, participate in all activities and complete all course tasks and assignments that are due by the end of the first class.

      March 2 and March 9, 2019: Pre-Trip Online Classes
      Students are required to individually complete and submit pre-trip assignments prior to departure.  Teachers will be available to answer any questions during designated hours.

      March 10 to March 16, 2019: Travel Days
      Students are required to complete assignments as they visit sites and participate in the activities during the travel days.  Students are also required to collect information for their summative assignment throughout the trip. The summative assignments are due during the post-trip online classes.

      March 30, 2019: Post-Trip Online Class
      Students are required to complete and submit their summative assignment online. Teachers will be available to answer any questions during designated hours.

    • Program Fees

      Program cost: $1990.00 (quad occupancy; four students to a room and two students to a bed).

      Optional Private Bed Supplement add $500.00 (student receives their own bed; this is NOT a private room).

      Deluxe medical and cancellation insurance (mandatory) add $145.00.

      Registration Deadline – February 1st 2019

      Please note: It is EduTravel and the school board policy that all students travelling on extended trips have both cancellation and medical insurance in place. A specialized students insurance protection plan will be automatically added to the cost of the program fee upon registration. Please know there is an option to opt out of the insurance policy by completing and returning the “Insurance Opt-Out Form” along with proof of valid insurance coverage from another source. 

      Visa Students may be required to pay an additional fee. Please contact the EduTravel office for more information.

      • Transportation by luxury highway motor coach (W/C, DVD, A/C)
      • Quad accommodations (four students to a room; two students to a bed)

      • All admissions to both course specific sights and recreational group activities
