COURSE OVERVIEW


Civics & Citizenship and Career Studies come alive as students explore Toronto and Ottawa! Students learn the role Canada plays in an increasingly interconnected global community and start building their own personal definition of “citizenship.” Students see how their career choice can allow them to have a meaningful impact on the world.
Students will write campaign speeches, enact dramatizations about Canadian civics, explore the field of photojournalism, and get firsthand experience in financial literacy.
ACTIVITIES
Here are some of the exciting experiences included in the program.

PARLIAMENT HILL
Learn about Canada’s political system, students get an official tour of the hill.

CANADIAN HISTORY MUSEUM
Students learn about our nation’s history as they explore this museum.

WAR MUSEUM
Explore the museum and discover our country’s military history.

INDIGENOUS EXPERIENCE
Students explore the strong Indigenous connection to “the heartbeat of Mother Earth” in an interactive workshop.

SUPREME COURT
Visit the highest court of Canada, the final court of appeals in the Canadian justice system.

Online Access
Students receive access to the online learning platform and will begin working on their introductory assignments.

February 12-25, 2022
Introductory Independent Learning Online
Students will work independently to complete and submit assignments. Teachers will be available to answer questions through the online platform.

February 26, 2022
Orientation and First Class
Parents, students and teachers meet in the morning to review travel expectations and the itinerary. Teachers and students meet in the afternoon for their first class and to work on introductory assignments.

March 5 & 12, 2022
Pre-trip Online Classes (Synchronous and Asynchronous)
Teachers and students will interact online as students participate in direct teaching, group activities, discussions and presentations.

April 2, 2022
Post-trip Online Date
Teachers are available to answer any questions during designated hours while students complete their summative assignments.

EduTravel is not accepting deposits during the pre-registration period. Until there is more clarity around the safety of student group travel and the Government of Canada removes its “avoid non-essential travel” advisory.
