The first time I heard about Monaco, was when the Selena Gomez movie, Monte Carlo, came out in 2011. That is when I first wanted to visit this illustrious principality. When Blair Waldorf of Gossip Girl married Prince Louis Grimaldi of Monaco and began her lavish royal lifestyle, I wondered what Monaco would look like in person.
When reading the itinerary for French Connection, once I saw that we would be going to Monaco, I was pumped. With our first steps in Monaco, our eyes were automatically drawn to the beautiful palm trees perfectly placed, and the stunning variety of luxury sports cars. You do not see this amount of sports cars everyday in Toronto. We first went to the Monaco Cathedral, built in 1875, that contains the tombs of former Princes of Monaco and where Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace (Grace Kelly) got married. We then headed to the Prince’s Palace of Monaco, the official residency of the Prince of Monaco and where Prince Albert II currently lives.
From there, you turn around, look over the railing and let your eyes feast on the picturesque Monaco Harbour, crowded with mega yachts. It’s hard to fathom the richness of Monaco. It’s amazing to walk through and hope that one day I can be that successful. Being Blair Waldorf is also a goal. Visiting Monaco was definitely one of the highlights of my trip and I am so thankful for the opportunity to see it.
