Today started as a regular day in Fiji until one of the hotel staff noticed something in the ocean. He quickly got all of the grade 11s onto the beach and into the boats. There were 3 humpback whales swimming through the bay. The 11s followed the whales around for around 30 minutes until they went back in for lunch. In the afternoon, students enjoyed water sports such as snorkelling, paddle boarding and kayaking.
Though it was a bit windy for paddle boarding the students still enjoyed the ocean water and beach. While snorkelling some interesting animals were spotted such as a stingray and starfish. Before dinner the island staff gave the students and staff a welcoming ceremony which was quite interesting. The staff and the teachers sat in a circle and the staff spoke in the local Fijian dialect and welcomed us to the island.
