COURSE OVERVIEW


Watch Canadian History come to life in Belgium and France. Learn about WWI at the In Flanders Fields Museum in Ypres, feel national pride at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial, and lay a wreath during the Menin Gate Ceremony. Travel to Dieppe for the Dieppe Memorial and Juno Beach Centre, which commemorate the thousands of Canadian lives lost during WWII..
Learn about the fragility of peace at Caen Memorial and the Canadian War Cemetery. Fall in love with the cobblestone streets, the macarons, the art and architecture of Paris. Traipse the narrow streets of the Latin Quarter and see pure opulence at Palace of Versailles before returning home.

SEINE RIVER CRUISE
Experience the beauty of Paris on a boat ride through the heart of the city.

VIMY RIDGE MEMORIAL
Learn about the storming of the ridge that occured on April 9th in 1917.

MENIN GATE CEREMONY
Students participate in the Menin Gate Ceremony: Last Post and the traditional final salute.

CANADIAN WAR CEMETERY
Students visit the Second World War burials where a majority of Canadian soldiers lay to rest.

EIFFEL TOWER
Learn about the 1889 landmark before climbing the stairs for an unbeatable view.

MANDATORY DATES

Online Access
Students receive access to the online learning platform and will begin working on their introductory assignments.

June 25
Orientation and First Class
Parents, students and teachers meet in the morning to review travel expectations and the itinerary. Teachers and students meet in the afternoon for their first class and to work on introductory assignments.

June 27 – August 1
Introductory Independent Learning Online
Students will work independently to complete and submit assignments. Teachers will be available to answer questions through the online platform.

August 2 – August 5
Pre-trip Online Classes (Synchronous and Asynchronous)
Teachers and students will interact online as students participate in direct teaching, group activities, discussions and presentations.
