• Sustainable Environments in Fiji

Open to ALL Ontario High School Students!

Enjoy the bright colours and warm climate of the South Pacific as you investigate interactions between natural and human systems in Fiji. This tight-knit community works together to keep their extensive coral reef ecosystem thriving as it continues to provide opportunities for all Fijian communities.  Students will dive in with first-hand experience as they assist in coral planting with an environmental officer, observe the tagging and releasing of turtles into the wild, hike through a rainforest village and visit Levuka, the Old Capital of Fiji and Fiji’s first UNESCO World Heritage Listed Site.

As the world’s population continues to grow, students will explore the changes and challenges that come with it. From the Nawaicoba Research Station to the University of South Pacific School of Marine Studies, the opportunity to study population change and urban life will continue to present itself. Through swimming in natural waterholes at COLO-I-SUVA Rainforest National Park and having a guide from the Ministry of Forestry identify birds and plant species in Fiji’s largest National Park, students will partake in experiential learning opportunities and eco-tourism adventures. End your day with volleyball on the lawns, and enjoy the view of the white sandy beach, with coral reef lagoon.
