Open to ALL Ontario High School Students!
Join us this March Break and earn a credit in Photography as we take in many of Europe’s most famous works of Art and Architecture!
Our whirlwind tour spans over two thousand years of art. We begin in Rome with the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the massive and impressive Pantheon. You will learn about how art is often a reflection of the society that produced it as we compare St. Peter’s Cathedral with the Notre Dame Cathedral and visit the breathtaking Palace of Versailles. At the Vatican Museum you can marvel at the absolute wonder that is Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel ceiling and follow this with quiet reflection over the beautiful Pieta and you will discover why Michelangelo is considered to be perhaps the greatest artist who ever lived. While in Paris, we will visit the Musee d’Orsay, which houses the most famous Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings in the world, including pieces by Monet, Renoir, Degas, Gauguin, Seurat and van Gogh. And, of course, no art trip through Europe would be complete without a visit to the Louvre where you will be able to see for yourself the revolutionary brushwork of the Renaissance man himself, Leonardo Da Vinci, as seen in his most famous works, The Mona Lisa and The Madonna of the Rocks.
And, while we’re there, you will be able to examine how European streetcars compare to our own as we enjoy casual strolls through the various market and shopping districts.
The great cities of Rome, Florence and Paris are world renowned for the artistic legacies they hold. What better way to learn about them intimately than to actually go there in person on this incredible journey and earn a high school credit on the way!
