      Walk in the footsteps of great Canadians as you learn about our rich heritage and the true Canadian experience. Discover first-hand what it means to be a responsible citizen – locally, nationally and internationally. Understand what role Canada plays within an increasingly interconnected global community.

      Through interactive and engaging activities, discover your true strengths as a learner and begin to envision your academic and professional career. Develop into a model student as you create an impactful resume and cover letter to put yourself in position for great future education and professional opportunities.

      Experience Canadian government as students walk the halls of Parliament, and learn about civic importance and sacrifices made by Canadians at the War Museum in Ottawa. Enjoy a visit to the United Nations in New York City as we gather the tools needed for Global Citizenship. Students will live and learn on University campuses and begin to envision the reality of post-secondary life and work with Ontario’s premier Careers/Guidance based websites and resources.

      Prerequisite: None

      * FRENCH IMMERSION and EXTENDED FRENCH Civics and Careers credits are available through the EduTravel Private School.

      Note: Two weeks prior to the program’s start date, registered students and parents will receive start up information directly from their teacher. This information will include how to access the course outline, pre-trip assignments, program itinerary, packing list, media release form, and other pertinent documents for signature. Your teacher will be available through email to answer any curriculum questions.

      Grade 9 students must register for the Integrated Civics and Careers Course.

      ** Students are required to attend the mandatory pre and post trip classes that will take place at a location within your region.


      Orientation: Tuesday July 24
      Students must login to the online platform by Tuesday, July 24 to begin their introductory assignments. Their teacher will contact them with the information to access on the online course prior to Tuesday July 24.

      Pre-Trip in-class: Tuesday August 7 to Friday August 10 (with lodging for out of town students)
      Students will be required to submit introductory assignments on August 7. Assessments will be ongoing throughout the pre-trip classes. 

      Travel: Saturday, August 11 to Friday August 17
      Students will be completing assessments throughout the travel portion. 

      Post-trip online submissions: Monday, August 20 and Tuesday August 21
      Students will submit daily assessments and summative assignments online by August 21.

      * $850 deposit is needed to secure your spot at the time of registration
      * $850 final payment is due Friday, June 1, 2018

      Optional Private Bed Supplement add $300
      Deluxe medical and cancellation insurance (mandatory) add $125

      Please note: It is EduTravel and school board policy that all students travelling on extended trips have both cancellation and medical insurance in place. A specialized student insurance protection plan will be automatically added to the cost of the program fee upon registration. Please know there is an option to opt out of the insurance policy by filling and returning in the “Insurance Opt-Out Form” along with proof of valid insurance coverage from another source. 

      Visa Students may be required to pay an additional fee. Please contact the EduTravel office.
