Today, I woke up at 6 o’clock to see the sunrise over the ocean from the top of the resort with a few of the other students. The excursions we went on today were: the Garden of the Sleeping Giant and the Sabeto mud pools.

At the Garden of the Sleeping Giants we were led on a tour by an informative guide. They had two thousand species of orchids in the garden! We hiked up a giant hill and had a great view of the mountains, villages, and huge plumes of smoke. The smoke was from the burning fields after they cut down and harvested the sugar cane. At the Sabeto mud pools, we covered our bodies, faces, and hair with mud, let it dry completely, then washed it off in the hot springs.

At dinner, I was invited back to sing with the musicians that I sang with last night! Overall, today was a really great outing day, and I’m excited for tomorrow!
